The Fire Door Inspectors Register (’The Register’) has been developed and will be maintained and administered by Housing H&S Compliance UK Ltd. It is exclusively for those working within ‘not for profit’ social landlords, Local Authorities and the Fire & Rescue Service and is not for commercial organisations.
The Register has been set up to identify those individuals who have completed our IFSM Accredited Fire Doors in Residential Buildings Diploma and met our rigorous standards to demonstrate their confidence in carrying out fire door inspections in residential premises.
Housing H&S Compliance UK Ltd are a specialist training and consultancy company providing UK-wide health, safety and property/building compliance services. They have a ‘pedigree’ from working within the sector and the organisational key aims are to support housing providers to understand their responsibilities and be clear about what they need to be doing to ensure that, primarily, their tenants are safe in their homes, but also that the organisation is clear on what it needs to do to meet the myriad of regulatory requirements as well as the standards set by the Regulator of Social Housing, the Scottish Housing Regulator and the Welsh Government.
Over the last couple of years, Housing H&S Compliance UK Ltd has naturally kept up to date with the emergence of sector specific fire safety guidance and how some of this has been interpreted and shared by many so-called specialists. There seemed to be little real clarity in the sector; we wanted to change that and provide that clarity. This led us to develop our much needed ‘Fire Doors in Residential Buildings Diploma’, which has been accredited by the Institution of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) and has been allocated 10 CPD hours by them.
Our IFSM Accredited Fire Door in Residential Buildings diploma and subsequent approval process ensures that inspectors have the confidence to undertake inspections of fire doors and minimise the risks to resident safety.
Housing H&S Compliance UK Ltd was established by Vicki Cutler, who, having worked in the sector for well over 16 years, was initially employed as a Health & Safety Advisor for a social landlord in the Staffordshire area. She decided to become a consultant a number of years later and over the last 10 years or so has worked with many social landlords carrying out compliance audits and bespoke reviews across the UK. There is no doubt that health & safety is one of the fundamental areas of a business and in the social housing sector this extends to residents and tenants and their properties too.
